About

A nurse shaped by two healthcare systems

Originally trained and registered as a nurse in Sri Lanka, I built my clinical foundation in intensive care and trauma settings — environments that demand precision, composure, and deep human empathy. Relocating to Australia has been both a personal and professional transition: one I have embraced with purpose. Currently working as a Nursing Assistant at Regis Frankston while completing my Master of Nursing, I am actively building the competencies and professional relationships that will support my AHPRA registration. My cross-cultural background is not a gap to be bridged — it is a strength I bring to every patient interaction.

Expertise

Areas of practice

ICU & Critical Care

My clinical career began in the intensive care unit, where I developed expertise in haemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and the rapid assessment of deteriorating patients. I am experienced in managing complex, multi-system conditions under pressure. This foundation in critical thinking and clinical precision informs every aspect of my nursing practice.

Aged Care & Gerontology

At Regis Frankston, I have deepened my understanding of person-centred aged care — recognising the dignity, individuality, and complex needs of older adults. I apply a holistic approach that honours each resident's history, preferences, and wellbeing. This experience has strengthened my communication, patience, and advocacy skills in a uniquely meaningful care setting.

Cultural Competence & Diversity

Having practised nursing across two countries and cultures, I bring a genuine and lived understanding of cultural competence to my work. I am attuned to the ways that language, background, and belief shape a patient's experience of care. I am committed to equitable, respectful practice that meets every patient where they are.

Professional Goals

Working Toward AHPRA Registration

My pathway to AHPRA registration is deliberate and well-prepared. Through my Master of Nursing studies, my current role in aged care, and my ongoing professional development, I am building the evidence base and competency portfolio required to practise as a Registered Nurse in Australia. I am committed to upholding the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's standards — and to contributing meaningfully to the Australian healthcare system.
